Converting Customers to Fans

Chris Capossela, Chief Marketing Officer at Microsoft: “A few years ago, we started to move our thinking away from how we could woo customers away from our competitors, and instead focus on developing a fan-centric culture, and I think this has served us well even though we still have so much to learn… we used the power of analytics to take a closer look at people who use Microsoft products every day… Fans will keep buying your products, but they’ll also provide feedback that makes solutions better, ideas for future products, influence over future fans, and credibility for your organization.Link

Serverless Architectures

Mike Roberts: Serverless computing is a hot topic in the software architecture world. The “Big Three” cloud vendors—Amazon, Google, and Microsoft—are heavily invested in Serverless, and we’ve seen plenty of books, open-source projects, conferences, and software vendors dedicated to the subject. But what is Serverless, and why is (or isn’t) it worth considering?Link1 Link2 Link3

bpmNEXT => Intelligent Automation

Kris Verlaenen reports from bpmNEXT: “The conference is still called bpmNEXT but the consensus is that the term “Intelligent Automation” seems to cover better what we are discussing.. Traditional flow charts have reached their limits in representing more adaptive requirements since the concept of work is now much broader (including robots, autonomous intelligence, decision services, etc.) Intelligent automation shifts to taking much more short term decisions based on the most recent live events as the business value is typically much higher if the response time is as small as possible“. Authentication and Access Control

Decision Management Systems separate the decision logic from the rest of the code allowing subject matter experts to update the decision logic according to the business needs. Carlos Serrano from Sparkling Logic describes additional benefits by adding authentication and access control: 1) you can control who has access to what decision logic asset, and for what purpose; 2) you can trace who did what to which asset, when and why. QA in Production

Things always go wrong in production, but this doesn’t have to be a bad thing. It’s an opportunity to learn about your system and the real world with which it interacts. With the right production monitoring tools, you can build a set of feedback mechanisms that help you find out about issues as they happen and ship fixes quickly. Adopting production QA (Quality Assurance) practices can help you gain a richer understanding of the real issues your system faces and learn new ways to improve its quality.” Link
