Speeding up decision-making under COVID-19 pressure

This is the title of today’s article by John Poppelaars: “Due to the lack of trustworthy information, hospitals need to make decisions on bed capacity, staffing, medicine and personal protective gear stock levels under high uncertainty. They need to make decisions with new information coming in all the time, making plans and changing them again as things turn out different than expected. These are all tough decisions and they need to be made fast to update their plans as often as necessary. Decision analytics (also known as ‘operations research’ or ‘prescriptive analytics’) allows them to decide on the best way forward each time new data becomes available, maximizing the care they can provide to both COVID-19 and other patients.” Link
